Year 10 and Year 11 students who are studying the novel The boy in the striped pyjamas were taken to the Malta Book Festival at Ta’ Qali. The students visited the book fair and an interesting exhibition of illustrations. There were various original illustrations, like those of Trevor Zahra, a well-known writer and ex-teacher of our school. We saw a short play of The boy in the striped pyjamas and a live illustration by Gattaldo. John Boyne came on stage and read the last sentences of his book and he answered some questions about his writing. John Boyne is on a book tour promoting the sequel to The Boy in the striped pyjamas. All students were given a free 5 euro voucher which they could spend at the book fair.
