Identification Documents Required
Candidates who during Scholastic Year 2023-2024 were in Year 10 or Year 11 are required to present their ID Card/Passport both when registering for synoptic assessment/s and on the day of the actual exam/s.
Candidates who during Scholastic Year 2023-2024 were in Year 9 and who do not have an ID Card/Passport, are to present a valid document which includes their Name, Surname and recent photo (such as a Student Tallinja Card) both when registering for synoptic assessment/s and on the day of the actual exam/s. Baby books, birth certificates, and any other documents which do not include their personal details and a recent photo shall NOT be accepted.
Legal guardians/parents can register on behalf of candidates, presenting a copy of the candidate’s ID Card/Passport (or valid document for Year 9 candidates as per above) together with their own ID Card/Passport and the registration form. In such cases, the Guardian’s Declaration (at the bottom of the form) should also be filled in.
Timetables
MATSEC will send individual timetables – including the specific day, the time, and the venue of each exam – by post in October to candidates who have registered for synoptic assessment/s. Any candidate who does not receive the individual timetable by the week of the synoptic session – which will be communicated to schools at the beginning of Scholastic Year 2024-2025 – is kindly asked to contact MATSEC as soon as possible.
Candidates who do not present the above-mentioned identification documents, together with their individual timetable, on the day of the exam will NOT be allowed to sit for the exam.
Unit Results
May we also remind you that as per usual practice, schools are to communicate to candidates the results they have obtained in due time, for those who are eligible and wish to register for a synoptic assessment in 2024 to be able to do so.
Unless otherwise indicated by MATSEC, schools are to refer to the Result Slips within the externally verified Tracking Sheets for Unit 1 and Unit 2 results.
As for Unit 3, the mark candidates achieve by the end of scholastic year 2023-2024 will not be final given the reduction in criteria as per communication dated 19th September 2022. Hence, after the pro-rating exercise would have been concluded by MATSEC and the results (Pass/Synoptic) communicated back to schools in July 2024, candidates are to be informed by schools as to whether they passed or have a synoptic in this unit.
Regards,
MATSEC
