Understanding Agriculture Seminar

On Thursday, 23rd November, Ms. Chantelle Borg Vella and Ms. Lara Marie Refalo attended a seminar called Understanding Agriculture, organized by the Let’s Talk Farming programme. During the seminar, they had the opportunity to listen to Mario Salerno, who shared his extensive knowledge and passion for nature.

Mr. Salerno discussed methods for planting crops that work well together on the same piece of land and explained how wild plants can be used naturally to prevent pests. He also highlighted the many benefits nature offers us, including our students. Amongst others, he described how spending time in a small garden can serve as “aromatic therapy.” Additionally, he emphasized the importance of giving back to nature in return for what it provides.

As part of the seminar, our teachers received three mulberry trees and some crops, including lettuce, onions, and arugula. These were planted at the school by Year 11 and Year 9 KTI students, as shown in the attached photos.
