YOUTH EXCHANGE “Stronger together: building body and mind”

YOUTH EXCHANGE “Stronger together: building body and mind” 6th – 13th of July Vaibla, Estonia.

Year 10 students accompanied by two educators and their Deputy head Ms Debono will be participating in an Erasmus exchange programme in Estonia. The topic that will be explored during the week’s stay is about Wellbeing, an important topic for everyone especially for youngsters to help develop good habits. Everyone was super excited for this event to arrive.

Update from Estonia… Today the first day started with some brainstorming activities regarding some rules and regulations that support our well-being. An interesting activity was presented to us by the Estonian group, introducing us to Estonian games.

The second day of activities started in the best possible way with some stretching and getting in touch with our bodies. The surroundings are beautiful, having fresh air and grass, which was used for our next part of the day. Pumping our blood was our next mission. A physical educator held several activities in the field next to the accommodation, which is next to a lake. It was exhausting, exhilarating, and funny at the same time.

Update from Estonia: Yesterday was an early day with our trip to Tartu, the capital city. This is an hour away from our accommodation. Upon arrival we were split into teams of different nationalities to participate in a quiz with the aim of having a thorough orientation of Tartu. This was followed by a lovely meal at the Gunpowder restaurant, followed by a boat trip on a traditional barge. Some free time was given to the students, and then we headed back home.

Another update from Estonia: Today was Maltese day. The students, together with their educators, prepared 6 different stations with Maltese traditional games such as Habel, Passju, Iz-zunzjana

Ddur ddur, bocci, gibeg u Lasktu. Students explained to the Estonians and the Lithuanians the game rules, and participation in the games ensued. These events were held during the afternoon. During the morning, Maltese dialogue was introduced to the students through quizzes and games.

Today was Lithuanian day, and what a lovely day it was, both weather-wise and presentation-wise. The topic chosen was bullying and the effects it has on well-being. Needless to say, good weather means outside games, and we were taught a game by the Lithuanians. Our students did their best in learning the ropes and playing it. We had our intercultural day, an important aspect of the Erasmus exchange. Food was introduced and presented to all.

Update from Estonia: And our last day has come as well. Today being our last day, activities were a closure of the past week together. Reflection time, processing through a game, and discussion was the setting for today. As with every Erasmus programme, the Youthpass was explained and filled in accordingly. Although in the morning we had thunder storms, the afternoon turned out to be amazing. We did our water sports using the paddle boats and rowing boats. It’s a wrap!
