Ms. Micallef and Mr. Desira’s Year 7 classes took part in an exciting outdoor cookery exercise as part of their PE sessions. The session covered basic camping techniques, starting with how to light a regulated campfire. Students learned about the three essential components for fire initiation: fuel, heat, and oxygen. The emphasis was on safety procedures, such as keeping a safe distance, preventing the fire from spreading, and guaranteeing adult supervision.
Following the fire-starting session, students were able to put their talents to use by cooking cocktail sausages and making s’mores. Students also learned how to set up their own tents. These activities helped them gain a practical understanding of outdoor cooking while also encouraging teamwork and responsibility.
