Malta Courts of Justice and Institute of European Studies

Over the past weeks, Year 9 and Year 10 European Studies students had the opportunity to engage in two insightful visits: the Maltese Courts of Justice and the Institute of European Studies at the University of Malta.

At the Courts of Justice, students gained firsthand experience of the daily workings of the legal system. They observed court proceedings and even had the rare opportunity to listen to a jury in session, offering them a deeper understanding of how justice is administered.

During their visit to the University of Malta, students explored various career paths related to European Studies. They interacted with professionals from different fields, visited the interpreting lab—where they had the chance to try out the equipment themselves—and toured lecture halls to experience university life. The visit also included a session with the French Department, where students learned about the significance of languages in professional settings. To make the experience even more engaging, a short quiz was held, and winning students received prizes.

This enriching experience not only introduced students to life at university but also encouraged them to consider future academic and career opportunities. We hope this visit has inspired them and strengthened their determination to pursue their ambitions.
