This morning, our school welcomed Mr. Roderick Zammit, the president of the Malta Darts Association, and Mr. Chris Dobey, a professional darts player, currently no 22 in the PDC rankings. Four officials from the Armed Forces of Malta who are also darts players with the Maltese national team, were also present. They visited a Year 10 and a Year 11 class where Mr. Roderick Zammit and Mr. Chris Dobey explained how to play darts and how the point system works. When playing this game, one must add up the score from the set of three darts and subtract it form the total. As one is about to finish, one needs to work out the numbers s/he must hit, to make the exact score. The darts game is a great workout for the brain, it helps mathematical thinking and it keeps the brain active.
During the fifth lesson, Mr Chris Dobey played a darts exhibition match against two students, our champions who are cousins: Cleavon Borg (Year 9) and Gerard Spiteri (Year 11). Five classes watched this exhibition darts game, and they really enjoyed it. Well done to both Cleavon and Gerard, they really played well. Special thanks go to the Malta Darts Association for giving us the opportunity to organize this exhibition darts game.
On Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December, the Malta Darts Association is going to organize an event together with the Armed Forces of Malta. Students and their parents/guardians are invited to attend this event. More details will be given in the coming days.
