Dear Sir/Madame, would you like a cup of tea? Why not join in our Year 8 Topaz class? Our students are enjoying some British afternoon tea! For the past month, our students have been studying British history and culture with their English teacher Ms S A Cauchi. Students had the opportunity to taste this renowned afternoon tea in class, which is one of the traditional English traditions. A special thanks goes to Ms S A Cauchi, Ms A Schrock, Ms M Abela and Ms C Seguna for the preparations.
Then It was Time for Afternoon Tea!
‘History and Culture’ is one of the themes covered in Year 8. Students in Year 8 Diamond, together with their English teacher Ms K Scerri, were engaged in various activities, which helped them familiarise themselves with different traditions and customs practised around the world.
Afternoon tea is a common practice in the United Kingdom. After listening to the pearls of wisdom of William Richard Hanson, a British etiquette coach, and discussing the importance of etiquette, students learned how to set the table, prepare typical British sandwiches, bake scones (pronounced /skons/) and enjoy their tea.
With the help of Ms Scerri, students put their knowledge into practice. On Friday 15th March 2024, they magically transformed their classroom into the perfect tearoom! Special thanks go to Ms Schrock and Ms Seguna who assisted the activity.
