Mid-Day Break Activity – Geography Club

Through the Geography club, students are not only learning various fun facts related to the environment, they are also learning how geography is related to everyday life and how it can combine with other subjects.

For example throughout the first term which was Air and Oxygen, students first watched a presentation to understand what is air, why it is important and how it is being polluted.

Thanks to Ambjent Malta, we had the opportunity to plant various small tress and herbs because trees contribute to oxygen in the air.

Moreover, thanks to the help of our Chemistry teacher, Mr. J. Borg, students had the opprtunity to see the ‘Elephant Toothpaste’ experiment. In this experiment, students learned that hydrogen peroxide decomposes into oxygen and water. A small amount of decomposing hydrogen peroxide generates a large volume of oxygen. Therefore the soapy water trapped the oxygen and created the elephant toothpaste!!!

Geography is not just a subject. It is everything around you. Geography relates to chemistry, biology , maths, history and more.

Stay tuned for more geography fun activities. Next to come is Christmas craft through recycled material, designing board games related to waste to highlight the importance of waste reduction, volcano competition, jewellery with Gemstones and more!

A big well done to all the nice number of students who attend the geography club for thier enthusiasm, imagination, creativity, care for the environment and happy smiles!  So proud of you!
