Inti taf x’inhu r-riħ?! Mela, ir-riħ huwa sempliċement arja li qed tiċċaqlaq madwar id-Dinja
, u nkejluh billi nużaw strumenti bħal anemometru biex naraw kemm hu qawwi
u l-wind vane biex nifhmu minn liema direzzjoni ġej
. Li nkunu nafu d-direzzjoni tar-riħ jgħinna nbassru t-temp
, jiggwida l-ajruplani u l-vapuri b’mod sigur ![]()
u jżommna preparati waqt maltempati jew anke nirien ![]()
.
Biex it-tagħlim ikun aktar interessanti, l-istudenti tas-7 Sena tal-Ġeografija bnew u tellgħu l-ajruplani tagħhom stess ![]()
u esperjenzaw b’mod dirett kif il-veloċità u d-direzzjoni tar-riħ jaffettwaw il-moviment. B’hekk it-tixrid tax-xjenza sar avventura tassew divertenti fis-sema! ![]()

Barra minn hekk, l-istudenti ppreżentaw rapport tat-temp tal-ġurnata billi marru f’diversi postijiet madwar l-iskola u użaw strumenti veri tat-temp: kejlu l-veloċità tar-riħ bl-anemometru, id-direzzjoni bil-wind vane, it-temperatura bit-termometru, fost oħrajn.
L-istudenti kellhom ukoll l-opportunità jibnu l-istrumenti tagħhom stess tat-temp. Grazzi speċjali tmur lis-Sa A Calleja Jones, għalliema tal-Ġeografija, talli ħadet ħsieb din l-esperjenza!
Wind is simply air zooming around the Earth
, and we measure it using tools like an anemometer to see how fast it’s blowing
and a wind vane to spot where it’s coming from
. Knowing the direction of the wind helps us predict weather
, guide planes and boats safely ![]()
, and stay prepared during storms or fires ![]()
.
To make learning even more exciting, our Year 7 Geography students built and flew their own colourful kites ![]()
, discovering first hand how wind speed and direction affect movement – turning science into a fun, sky high adventure! ![]()

They also did a weather report for the day, by going to different spots in the school and by using true weather instruments they calculated the wind speed by an anemometer, wind direction by wind vanes, temperature by a thermometer and more.
Students also had the opportunity to build their own weather instruments. A special thanks goes to Ms A Calleja Jones, Geography teacher for organising this!
